The New Flir E50 infrared camera offers the highest 240 x 180 IR pixel resolution available in its price range. This gives 43,200 temperature measurements on each image.

This model features and increased temperature range of -20°C to 650°C making ideally suited to electrical & mechanical inspections

With WiFi & Bluetooth® as standard you can now seamlessly transfer your images to your iPhone, iPad or computer using the new Flir App. This enables you to view, edit and create reports on the go.

With a thermal sensitivity of 50mK or less that 0.05°C it means that much smaller temperature differences can be seen. This added to the impressive 240 x 180 IR resolution gives amazing detail to your images.

(Video) Introducing the FLIR E-Series Thermal Imaging Cameras

The Flir E50 is a small and lightweigh infrared thermal imaging camera designed for those who require a higher image quality and the ability to document their findings easily.

The Flir E50 also includes a best in class 3.1 megapixel digital camera allowing visible images to be recorded in addition to the IR image and the ability with the Pip (picture in picture) function for a scalable IR image to be superimposed onto the visible image for added detail in your reports. The camera also includes powerful LED lights to allow you to take visible images in dark environments.

The Flir E50 also features Meterlink allowing the transfer of data taken with the Extech EX845 clamp meter recording electrical meter readings direct to the image on the camera thus saving you the time of recording the measurements manually and the possible errors that can arise in matching them back to the image when compiling your report.

Furthermore text comments can be added via the touch screen display and voice annotations of up to 60 seconds can be added to each image saving the need to make time consuming notes by hand.

Flir E50 Thermal Imaging Camera - Flir E-Series Thermal Imaging Cameras - Thermal Imaging Cameras (9) MeterLink™:
MeterLink is a new Bluetooth technology that lets FLIR infrared cameras "talk to" EXTECH meters wirelessly. Manual data collection is time-consuiming and prone to errors. MeterLink™ eliminates this problem by allowing the thermographer to quickly take moisture readings on a damaged surface and associate those readings with the corresponding targets stored in an infrared image.Readings from the meters get recorded right on the camera's images.

FAQs

Are FLIR cameras any good? ›

The wealth of information you can get with every shot, including multiple metering options for checking temperatures anywhere on the frame, is a significant boon over the center-spot-only meter of the Flir One. As such, it earns our Editors' Choice as the best consumer-level thermal camera available.

What is the difference between FLIR and thermal? ›

FLIRs make pictures from heat, not visible light. Heat (also called infrared, or thermal, energy) and light are both parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, but a camera that can detect visible light won't see thermal energy, and vice versa.

Can FLIR see people through walls? ›

No, thermal cameras cannot see through walls, at least not like in the movies. Walls are generally thick enough—and insulated enough—to block any infrared radiation from the other side.

How far can FLIR one see? ›

The FLIR ONE Pro operates at 32°F to 95°F (0°C to 35°C) and can detect temperatures from -4°F to 752°F (-20°C to 400°C). Q: How far away can I see a hot spot? A: Thermal cameras, like visible cameras, can see as far as your eye can see in most cases.

Can thermal cameras see through walls? ›

Thermal imaging devices can't “see” through walls. But pointing a thermal camera at a building still reveals sensitive information about what's going on inside. Thermal cameras read the heat radiating off of an object.

Can I use my phone as a thermal camera? ›

The Thermal App is another thermal camera suitable for Android devices and is usually clipped to the sides of the smartphone. It is attached to a smartphone through a connector cord and draws its power from the device to operate.

Will snakes show up on thermal imaging? ›

Against the background of other objects, humans, animals, or cars have higher temperatures, and they show up more clearly on the device's screen. However, cold-blooded animals like snakes, for example, would be virtually impossible to detect with a thermal imager.

Can FLIR see through fog? ›

Although thermal imaging cameras can see in total darkness, through light fog, light rain, and snow, the distance they can see is affected by these atmospheric conditions.

What is the difference between an infrared camera and a thermal camera? ›

Active IR systems use short wavelength infrared light to illuminate an area of interest. Some of the infrared energy is reflected back to a camera and interpreted to generate an image. Thermal imaging systems use mid- or long wavelength IR energy.

Can a thermal camera see through clothes? ›

Can Thermal imaging cameras see through clothing? No, thermal imaging cameras can detect the temperature of the cloth but will not see through it.

Can FLIR see through glass? ›

They CAN'T See Through Glass.

What can block infrared cameras? ›

How Can You Hide From Thermal Imaging Technology?
  • Glass. One of the most effective methods to block IR is to conceal behind glass; if you are okay with carrying around a pane of glass, great! ...
  • "Space blanket" ...
  • Woolen blanket. ...
  • Choose the right background. ...
  • Warm clothes. ...
  • Burn it out. ...
  • Thick Netting.

Can FLIR see through clothes? ›

The new X-T1 IR has a new function that means it can "see" infrared light which we can't see with the naked eye. As Wired say: "But one odd side effect of infrared photography is that, in some cases, it can see right through clothing. Not always, and the clothes have to be pretty thin in the first place."

How deep into the ground can a thermal camera see? ›

Infrared imaging, which detects surface-level heat differences above buried objects, is most effective to a depth of about five feet, he said, though it, too, has been used to track objects 25 feet down.

Can my phone detect infrared? ›

These different invisible lights are useful in technology, too. Household items like TV remotes also use infrared light to communicate without wires. And while our naked eyes can't pick up on infrared light, the sensors in your phones and digital cameras can — essentially making the invisible visible.

What technology can see through walls? ›

Camero state it uses AI systems to track patterns behind materials and provide a layout of the room, plus items inside, but that is just about all we have at present. Delving deeper into Camero's tech, they state their products use radio waves to penetrate through walls, an idea that is not new.

When did the FLIR one pro come out? ›

FLIR Debuts FLIR ONE Pro LT Lower-Cost Thermal Imaging Camera for Smartphones and Tablets. WILSONVILLE, Ore., – July 17, 2018 – FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR) announced today the launch of the FLIR ONE® Pro LT, a new lower price point thermal imaging attachment for smartphones in the FLIR ONE Pro series.

Is there a thermal camera app for Iphone? ›

Seek Thermal is the best way to experience and visualize thermal energy while on the go, at work, indoors, or in the outdoors. With this free app and a Seek thermal imaging camera, you can quickly and accurately detect, inspect, measure, and visualize thermal energy from your smartphone or tablet.

How do I use FLIR pro? ›

How to use the FLIR ONE Thermal Imaging Camera - YouTube

How do you charge FLIR one pro? ›

Plug the Lightning USB end of the power cable into the FLIR ONE and plug the other end into a 1A power source. The Charge Indicator LED will blink while the device is charging. The FLIR ONE requires less than one hour for a full charge (with a 1A source).
