The latest update to Escape from Tarkov was the perfect thing to bring in the new year and new decade. Along with many bug fixes and other enhancements, the Battlestate Games team dropped some new weapons in patch 0.12.2.5485. So, let’s take a look at these new guns and how they will effect EFT.
Weapons Added
DT MDR 7.62x51VPO 215SR-25ORSIS T-5000MP9MP9-N
DT MDR 7.62×51 Assault Rifle
First up is the Desert Tech MDR Assault Rifle. This weapon is a modular rifle with multiple calibers and a compact bullpup layout. Because of its modular construction, the barrel lengths and calibers of the DT MDR 7.62×51 AR can be changed much easier. Something great about this weapon is that it can be crafted using 1 of each of the Silver Ornaments, Red Ornaments, and the Violet Ornament. Along with this, the MDR has available mods for the barrel, pistol grip, rear sight, handguard, magazine, and the scope. You will find it being sold by Peacekeeper at Level 4.

Molot VPO-215 .366 TKM Rifle
Next up is a traditional Russian bolt-action hunting rifle. This sniper rifle is can be a great weapon on open maps such as Woods. Along with that, you will be able to get the VPO-215 sniper from Jaeger at Level 1. There are mods available for the barrel, stock, magazine, and mount as well as three different types of ammunition. Keep in mind, this is not a very modular weapon. It is a typical sniper rifle that will get you the kill from across the map if you can land your shots and stay out of sight.

SR-25 7.62×51 – Knight’s Armament Company
One of the coolest new weapons to enter EFT in this update is the SR-25 Precision Rifle. This thing is ready to kill with a 2-stage drop-in trigger, E2 bolt and gas system, and ambidextrous magazine and bolt release systems. This is a great evolution of the 7.62mm NATO semi-automatic rifle and you can find it being sold by Peacekeeper Level 3. Along with that, this weapon is fairly modular so you can modify the receiver, pistol grip, stock, magazine, and charging handle.

Orsis T-5000 .308 Sniper Rifle
One of the most reliable and accurate sniper rifles in Escape from Tarkov, the Orsis T-5000 is an amazing weapon for any Tarkovian. Apart from its killer specs, the Orsis T-5000 is awesome because it can be crafted at the Christmas Tree with a simple Violet ornament. Along with that, this weapon can be found in Level 3 Skier. MP9 9×19 B&T Sub-Machine Gun
The Swiss gun manufacturer, Brügger and Thomet created this beast of an smg, the MP9. This weapon is a selective-fire 9×19 mm weapon that can shred anyone on the wrong side of the barrel. You will find this weapon for sale by Peacekeeper level 2 and you will be able to upgrade some of the specs through a decent set of modular settings. The areas you will be able to mod on the MP9 are the muzzle, receiver, stock, magazine, mount, and charge. So, with the option of firing single-fire or full-auto, the MP9 can work great as both a close range weapon and a medium-range with the right modifications.

MP9-N 9×19 Sub-Machine Gun
A further modification of the generic MP9, the MP9-N takes close-range combat and personal defense to another level. With the insanely high rate of fire at 1,100 RPM, the MP9-N can get you out of most sticky situations. One great thing about this MP9 mod, you can craft it at your Christmas Tree for 3 Red Ornaments and a craft time of 53 minutes. Other than that, you will not find this weapon with any of the traders. Once you have it, there are not very many modifications left to improve on what is already there. Simply just a few mods for things like the muzzle, receiver, stock, magazine, foregrip, and the charge.
